Well, let’s discuss the main debatable issue in Digital Signage: LCD or LED video walls. And, more precisely, whether the “LED” has won liquid crystals, and if not yet, then why. Let’s start with terminology.
The high-resolution widescreen indoor LED video screen follows the structure of the eye, 178° iris shape with a radial shape. Synchronization of virtual reality is synchronized with the central nervous system and gives a feeling of full reality.
LCD VIDEO WALL display
LCD, liquid crystal (LCD) video walls. An informational or advertising screen is made up of individual video displays. Each of them has a narrow frame to make the installation look monolithic.
LED VIDEO WALL display
The design is assembled from individual LEDs. Naturally, during installation they are not inserted one by one, plates (“cabinets”) come out of the factory, on which they are already fixed – 512 × 512, 960 × 960, and 1024 × 768.
Do not confuse! Consumer LCD televisions use LED backlighting to provide uniform illumination. And the LED screen technology is Direct View LED. There are no liquid crystals here, a luminous dot = a diode.
Benefits of using LED screens avd videowall display
Bright and informative media signs are highly effective, as they attract 40% more attention than regular banners and inscriptions. But besides this, LED-designs have the following advantages:
- dynamism – due to this, different information can be displayed on the sign, ranging from text to media videos
- durability – the useful life of LED signs exceeds 10 years or 100 thousand hours of uninterrupted operation
- cost effectiveness – LED technologists are characterized by low power consumption
- good visibility – in addition to the fact that the LED sign remains visible in any weather, both day and night, it has a large viewing angle, which means that it can even be seen practically from the side
- practicality – a failed block can be easily replaced, while the rest of the sign will continue to work, and besides, in principle, it does not need to be serviced
- endurance – outdoor models with a degree of protection IP67 can withstand almost any external factors, from rain to mechanical shocks.
Despite the fact that such a sign is more expensive than other similar structures, its cost is fully paid off due to the advantages.
Therefore, the only drawback in price is compensated by the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the media sign.
Video wall
Typically assembled from several 49.55-inch digital screens with ultra-thin bezels, allowing for a large-scale advertising format that can be seen from afar – a real advertising wall. All screens are combined into a single system, displaying parts of the image and video as a whole. The dimensions of such walls can reach up to 32 square meters.
LED screens for indoor advertising
Huge seamless LED panels that are hard to miss. They consist of many separate sections, called cabinets, which are installed on a pre-prepared metal structure. The size of the final video canvas is practically unlimited. They can be curved, or the most non-standard shapes. They are used in large open spaces, for example, in large shopping centers, at exhibitions, at airports and train stations. For outdoor advertising, such LED panels are usually additionally equipped with protection against dust, dirt and precipitation.
